Purpose

EYEMG was founded in 1994 and over the years we have built out a lot of open source infrastructure. We have also gained a large repository of knowledge around using open source tools in business. To play our role as a good corporate citizen, we are giving back. This site is an initiative to release knowledge and code back to the community under Creative Commons and Open Source licensing.

The purpose of this site is to contribute knowledge about aspects of systems administration and analysis back to the community. The style is intended to be similar to the Gentoo documentation which is very explicit and bootstraps every process interleaving how-to and best practices together. This gives beginner and intermediate systems administrators access to knowledge which they may other wise have to struggle through years of experience to get. Where "man" pages are rudimentary manuals for software, the documentation on this site is intended to give both a background, usage, and best practices interleaved in a single continuous knowledge base.

We hope some of this information and these projects will be useful and your are welcome to help contribute. For more information contact foss@eyemg.com.
